New C Class...Wow!

Jane and I had a white C Class when they first came out in '94.  This is the third generation update since then, and I must say that it is an attractive automobile...no diesel in Canada in this one (seems a natural), but I read that BMW will soon have one in their 3 series!

Scribefire 3.1.3

Trying the new scribefire to write this blog.  Weather is chilly, have a fire on inside.  The fall leaves were outstanding this week..The highlight for me were the sugar maples in the park in Listowel...all bright shades of yellow, orange, red and green.  Now for a little Harry Manx...

Laura's Wedding

Erin and Kathy

Gabriela and her cousin Caitlin

Gabriela

It was a busy weekend at the Convent.  Our niece, Laura, was married in Woodstock on a very pretty spring day.  It was really good to see the whole family all dressed up and looking good.  Linda is pleased now that it is all over and everything went off without a hitch.  Scripture was 1 Corinthians 13.  The preacher explained that Paul didn't specifically write it for weddings.  This inspired me to read it and meditate on the passage all weekend..."For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I shall know even as also I am known."  This really gives us something to chew on.

Green

The south loft at the cottage

Shades of green are growing up all around. Life continues in Happy Valley. Today I took a computer course on Excel at work. I am the type that likes the magic performed by a program such as it. It's like learning a new language.

Jane and Linda are enjoying getting the gardens ready for another spectacular hot summer. Linda's daughter, Laura, is getting married on Saturday. Linda made her daughter's bridal dress. She is a meticulous seamstress.

We praise the Lord for the many blessings he has bestowed on us.

High Gas Prices?!

This VW gets over 100km per liter of diesel!

We're going to win this battle over high fuel prices... by adopting an attitude of conservation, and looking for the cars that are fuel efficient.

No April Fool

Time to dust off the old laptop and put down a few lines on the blog. I'm sitting here by the window at the cottage on a beautiful spring morning watching the birds. Jane is at work. Despite all the talk of global warming, high gas prices and looming recession, things look pretty good in our neck of the woods when the sun is shining! Praise God. Last week Lorne came up for a stay, and we caught up on all the news and had a nice barbeque. The old red Benz is just about ready to be put away for the summer. We will get the Banana Benz out for the summer and hopefully run it on pure Veggie Oil. I'm excited.

March in like a

Jane and I are excited about the signs of spring. Warm sunlight, more birdsongs and longer days. We are both getting over that nasty cold that's going around. Watching the American political scene with interest. Studying.

Goodbye Jeff

So sad to see Jeff go. I remember the first time I heard this song- I hadn't heard anything like that since Hendrix. Of course Jeff will also be remembered for his love of old-time jazz, and the skill with which he played it. God bless you, Jeff, and I hope that there are lots of Angel Eyes turning your way where you are now!

February Blahs

Another February, Another Place...

Good to be blogging again...Jane and I both are confined to the convent with colds. We bought a new laptop with a (gasp!) Windows Vista OS on it (it was cheap) so we could both be online in order to do our courses. I'm no big fan of Windows, and even with this new OS one still gets the 1001 dialogue boxes, warnings, and the painfully slow loading of new software...but it was cheap!

Gabriela had her foot stepped on by a stiletto-heeled madwoman in a club and had surgery done to it. She has to were a cast for quite awhile.

Watching the American election with interest... especially the commentary from the various media and bloggers!

That's all for now- I smell supper cooking!

2008!

Mom and Jane with Satellite Internet!

Winter Benz

Jane's New Snowshoes

Jane and I kicked off the New Year with a wild wintry drive north with visits to Mom and Dad up along the Lake Huron shoreline. The red Benz ran exceptionally well...just purred along and bit into the unplowed roads with it's Goodyear Nordic snowtires! Mom and husband Frank are camped out in their Winnebego at McGregor Point Provincial Park for the winter, expert winter RVers that they are, and have made many friends amongst the birds and animals there.

Christmas Eve

Deb and Mark

Bud

These are a few photos of Bud and Mary's annual Christmas party held last Saturday. We had a lot of fun... singing and jamming and dancing. Bud has his new wood-fired bread oven built in his backyard and had it fired up.

Gabriela arrived home last night and we had a nice meal with her...she now can eat shrimp! Afterwards, we went to the Christmas service at Jane's sister Kathy's church in Avonbank. A lovely service, telling the story of the Saviour's birth through song and scripture...all with local musicians! Good feed of goodies after in the church basement.

I'm trying as hard as possible not to be politically correct this Christmas and would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and God's blessings!

Stir It Up- Bob Marley

It doesn't get any better than this!

Santa Pablo visits the Linton Christmas do

Young Carter pondering Santa's beard

Ella shows off her beads

Sunday found us at Stratford's Festival Inn enjoying the company of Jane's mother's family at the annual Linton Christmas party. All kinds of in-laws and out-laws showed up (no black sheep this year). The kids had a ball, and we all went swimming in the hotel's pool afterwards. I love the holiday season, with all the opportunities to visit with friends and relatives.

Winter Blast!

Her Royal Fatness

We had our first real blast of winter today. Jane and her sister Linda declared it a snow day and stayed put in the convent whilst experimenting with their drink of the winter, the Bloody Ceasar. I braved the squalls and set out for Stratford in the red Benz, burning B20 Biodiesel. This car is running very strong, and I feel quite safe inside its' tank-like body. Got four new snows.

Renovations

Under the panelling in the convent

Jane has been diligently renovating our living room (the former chapel) in the convent and uncovered a nice mural behind where the altar once existed. We decided to restore this wall and paint the others. The ceiling is very high, and we have to use scaffolding to reach it. Lizzie has taken up residence on top of a warm radiator cover and seems to want to stay put there for the winter. She is just getting fatter and fatter. I am continuing my courses this winter for my property management certification.
