War

So we have over 50 dead Canadians in Afghanistan. How come? Are we trying to emulate the US war-mongers? Please talk to your politicians and anybody that will listen and tell them to get us the hell out of there.

On the home front, here in the Stonetown spring is struggling to arrive. The daffodils are just about to bloom after an unseasonably cold Easter. We visited my sister Lois' for a fine dinner of barbeque and red wine on Easter Weekend. Lois' husband Doug is building a solar-powered shed in their backyard. Jane and I have just spent a week painting the interior of our cottage and getting the compost toilet working. Jane thinks that I am obsessed with rotating the drum in the toilet, but really I am happy not to have to take the long trip out to the thunder shack anymore!

I agree and disagree. First, be glad you're not in Iraq. Second, the war in Afghanistan is our (USA) fight. It is where Al Queda was and where Bin Fergotten was. It is where we should have stayed instead of Invading Iraq.

I have no doubt that Al Queda must be confronted and defeated. This will not be accomplished, however, by invading innocent countries under the guise of "fighting terrorism". The War here in the US has become so large that it obscures the fact that everyday, Americans are losing more and more of our precious liberties.
