Octoberfest

Gabriela is trying to get Viv to tone it down a little...

Spent Saturday night over at Bob Kalmusky's (our bass player) celebrating his birthday and enjoying an extended jam session. Some of the musicians attended included local pipe wizard Mark Fletcher, guitar slinger John Till (former lead player with Janis Joplin) and the entire Heaven's Gate vocal ensemble. My kind of party. The weather this weekend has been A-1! Jane has been digging out the front beds at the convent and getting them ready for a new landscape design. Made a green Thai curry for supper (Gabriela came home to get fed).

Summer continues...

Bathroom Tiles

Summer continues in Ontario with balmy days and dreamy warm nights. And a forecast of 30 degrees on Tuesday...that's September 25th! I do remember a late September day with similar heat many years ago at Lorne's first wedding. I was shooting the photos, and there we were, in front of the town hall, Lorne with his Urban Cowboy outfit on- just a'sweatin' in the sun! Whew! Was it OK to mention that, Lorne?

Up The Ladder To The Roof

Spent the weekend up on the ladder putting up battens on the gabel end of the cottage and listening to the Supreme's Anthology (I have a real soft spot for Motown songs). This post- Diana Ross song features Jean Terrel...real nice stuff!

Burning Spear-Slavery days

Nice to see how roots reggae is made!

Chillin'

Grand-Nephew Campbell with Brother Dave

The weather is chillin'...down to 5 degrees tonight! Jane and I went shopping at Ikea today and bought a frame for the futon. Hope to winterize the red Benz for cold season soon...so much to do (new heater fan, new brake calipers, oil change, oil undercoating, fix that funny roaring noise underneath)...is it cheaper just to lease a new car- let me know what you think! Lots of noise on the 'net these days about economic cool-down in the US...including housing-bubble burst...strong Canadian dollar. Hmmm. We have both rich and poor friends...everyone is still eating and has a roof over their heads, praise God. Looking forward to the fall colours, my fav time of year.

Labour Day

Chris and John at my 50th

Gabriela and her room-mate Viviana at the cottage

Una siesta con Jane y Lizzie

A Labour Day weekend that started out real busy and ended up on the beach under perfect skies! Jane and I helped move Gabriela out of her basement apartment in East London into a nice two bedroom in an old house on Oxford Street close to her classes at King's college. She is sharing with Viviana, her friend from Stratford. The two girls enjoyed a couple of days with us at the cottage, a visit which included the requisite wild night in Grand Bend (for them, not us old farts). We had lots of visitors on Sunday, including Bud and Mary, Chris and son Riley and Riley's buddy Luke, Bruce and Marlene, Rueben, and Linda. We had a lot of laughs, some great swims in the lake, and some wonderful tasty meals. It was a great way to kick off the fall season!
