War

So we have over 50 dead Canadians in Afghanistan. How come? Are we trying to emulate the US war-mongers? Please talk to your politicians and anybody that will listen and tell them to get us the hell out of there.

On the home front, here in the Stonetown spring is struggling to arrive. The daffodils are just about to bloom after an unseasonably cold Easter. We visited my sister Lois' for a fine dinner of barbeque and red wine on Easter Weekend. Lois' husband Doug is building a solar-powered shed in their backyard. Jane and I have just spent a week painting the interior of our cottage and getting the compost toilet working. Jane thinks that I am obsessed with rotating the drum in the toilet, but really I am happy not to have to take the long trip out to the thunder shack anymore!

Johnny Winter

Chris and I went to see Johnny in London on Tuesday. We had a hell of a time finding the venue, kind of a wild goose chase. Our efforts were rewarded. This was the most electrified, ass-kicking blues show that we had seen in a decade. Johnny, although debilitated to the point of having to sit and play, still had all the chops, that makes him, in my opinion, a superior guitar player...better even than Stevie Ray. Wow...my ears are still ringing!
